What is a fanzine?
A fanzine is a compilation of derivative fanworks made by fan creators. For this one, we are aiming to include both fanfics and various types of fanart such as digital art, traditional art, and comics.
What kind of zine is this?
This is a SFW/NSFW Zine for any Blacksad character, no matter if they're from the comics or the game.
Will it be free or paid?
We're thinking about setting the price around 8 dollars, and all profits go to the Robin Hood foundation which supports low-income families in New York City.
Will minors be allowed to participate?
Contributors must be 18+ years old minimum to participate in this zine.
Are ships allowed?
Yes! As long as both characters are adult, of course.
What about OCs?
As long as they're shown with a Blacksad character and fit the noir aesthetic, sure!
Will traditional artwork be accepted?
Yes, but please make sure you have access to a good quality scanner.
I’ve never been in a zine before, can I apply?
Of course!
How many contributors will be accepted?
We are aiming for 15-20 artists and 5-10 writers. However, this may change depending on the interest. This is our first time doing something like this, so we don't want to get overwhelmed!
What are the expectations and restrictions of Contributors?
Expectations include communicating through a Discord server, email or Twitter DMs. They may share previews/crops of final work after the zine goes on sale, once the sale ends (May 31), they can share the full piece.
Can I apply for more than one position?
While you can apply to more than one category, you will only be selected for one. However, you can be selected to do SFW, NSFW or both.
For Artists:
•Pieces should be in full color or B&W
•Minimum canvas size is 1000px, RBG, portrait orientation
•Spread/Double page: minimum 2000px, RBG, landscape orientation
• JPEG/JPG or PNG file
For Writers:
•Word count: Max 2500 words
•An OC can be a protagonist, but one of the main characters must be from Blacksad
Regarding NSFW:
•We do not accept the following themes: Rape, Incest, Underage, Weird fetishes (vore, scat, diapers, etc.)
Blood is okay, gore is not.
•All works created for this fanzine must be original works. No traced art.
•Artists can submit up to 3 pieces, writers are allowed one SFW and one NSFW piece if they so desire.
